Miłosz's translation of the Book of Ruth

Summary/Abstract: The article analyses fragments where the said translation deviates from the Hebrew original, with particular attention devoted to narrative sequences. Overall, only few minor mistakes were made: most of them did not compromise the meaning and one mistake that did garble the original sense was caused by following too closely the older translation by Jakub Wujek. The analysis has shown that Miłosz' translation of the Book of Ruth--despite being visibly influenced by previous translations of Danzig Bible and Jakub Wujek - manages to preserve the meaning of the original in semantic and lexical sense.
