Comparison of Selected Aspects of Internet Payments Risks for Several Banks Operating on the Polish Market

Summary/Abstract: E-commerce and internet payments have become more and more popular among consumers – thanks to the rapid development of internet banking. At the same time, the threats for the bank customers and the banking system itself, have become more significant, which may give rise to an imbalance of the economy. In order to secure its safety, European Forum on the Security of Retail Payments has issued several recommendations for banks operating in the European Union. The purpose of this paper is to compare certain aspects of those recommendations that were implemented by the banks with the recommendations document, as well as the description of the internet banking in Poland. The analysis of documentation and comparative analysis of the 3 selected banks have shown that the recommendations have been implemented which, as economic practice shows, does not fully protect the banks’ customers.
