Summary/Abstract: The keynote of article are innovations in the market of financial instruments. Such innovative instruments include financial derivatives. Derivatives can be used both to ensure the stable devel-opment and also survival in difficult market conditions by companies with various profiles. The main use of these instruments is to manage risk by properly planned, implemented and monitored hedging. Dependent on the type of risk can be used different types of security tools with respect to the underlying asset which can be a currency, interest rate, prices, raw material cost, etc. There is a very wide range of derivatives in a growing financial market (stock exchange and OTC). Therefore, it is possible to adjusts specific financial derivatives to the risk profile of a particular company. In this article financial options have been proposed, because they are still some of the less appreciated instru-ments in the financial market used to hedging strategy. On practical examples the possibilities of their use in transactions based on international exchange and also their effectiveness of the both for the im-porter and the exporter have been shown. In both cases, not only they should be managed to avoid losses arising from adverse changes in exchange rates, but also to generate the funds, which accounted earn-ings of these entities. In order to provide a comprehensive approach to the subject, attention has been paid to the risks associated with the improper use of options in business practice. This brief analysis of the sensitivity of the options has been intended to show how this risk can be avoided.
