Summary/Abstract: The unstable situation in the modern labor market is a socio-economic problem in many countries. The starting point for the deliberations under consideration was that the difficult situation on the labor market in Poland at the beginning of the 21st century required conducting socio-economic policy that favored the creation of new jobs and the elimination of unemployment. The intervention of the state requires the involvement of financial resources in the area of the labor market. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to define the scope of intervention on the labor market based on funds from the Labor Fund. The Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship was adopted as an example. Therefore, it was hypothesised that the involvement of the Labor Fund resources should be proportional to the situation on the labor market and the level of unemployment in the region - thus, together with the decline in the unemployment level, intervention in the field of employment activation should increase. The research covered the years 2013–2018 and was carried out on the basis of quantitative methods, in particular statistical methods as well as comparative methods, praxeological methods and the desk research method. The article examines the structure of the Labor Fund as a whole and in relation to registered unemployment. In addition, it was indicated how the unemployment rate shaped against the background of the funds transferred to combat unemployment. The research led to the conclusion that, unfortunately the funds allocated from the Labor Fund are transferred on the basis of ex post data, which fundamentally hinders the proper reaction of public funds to the improvement of the situation on the labor market. They are passed inadequately to the current problems of the labor market. Results of the research are base to next steps to compare efficient of tools used by states to eliminate dysfunctions on the labour market.
