Summary/Abstract: This article discusses various performance situations in which a jazz artist realizes his skill: a public performance in aconcert, recording in a studio and participating in a jam session. Each situation has its own specifics, its own laws and rules. The article reveals the main features of performance situations, their advantages and disadvantages, draws attention to how important they are for a jazz musician practicing improvisation.
