Summary/Abstract: The article is theoretical and empirical in nature. The theoretical part providesa cognitive and critical analysis of the world literature. According to the approach presented in this part, social capital built by the local community with tourists is a factor strengthening the trend in tourism, which is the development of ecotourism. The research aim of the article is to identify the evaluation the quality of the relationship between the local community of valuable natural areas and final purchasers in the tourism services market. Three research questions were formed. In order to answer them, primary research was conducted by means of a questionnaire. The results were statistically analysed using the method of averaging and factor analysis. The results indicate that despite the dominance of positive opinions about tourists, the local community refers to them mainly surface relations, based on a brief exchange of smiles or greetings or even avoids them.
