Summary/Abstract: The article presents the idea, functions and directions of development of outsourcing and the evolution of its forms embodied in the existing institutions dealing with SSC,IT, BPO/O and R&D. A type and quantity – related analysis was performed with regard to the developmental segmentation of business supporting institutions. The article also discusses the outcomes of analyses regarding types of spatial and functional urban revitalization,also resulting from business centers development. It was noted that foreign business centers tend to concentrate in metropolises and that Polish business centers are increasingly rooted and prevailing in medium – sized cities. Based on the results of the analyses and deliberations, further directions of study were recommended.
