Summary/Abstract: Economic as well as ethical aspects of development are of great importance. In the last few decades, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) has tried to overcome economic backwardness. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, a socialist market economy and socialism with Chinese characteristics were officially promoted. However, priority was given to market reforms and very fast economic growth while the ethical aspects of the PRC’s development were neglected. That is why the PRC must face important development challenges.
