Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the activities of development banks in Germany and their specificities on the example of the largest regional development bank in North Rhine-Westphalia. Its mission is to support its owner – the state of North Rhine Westphalia – in the completion of its structural and economic policy tasks. The article presents types of the most important loans addressed to enterprises from the SME sector and other development measures.
