Summary/Abstract: Prosumer is one of the most important support programmes for the development of energy from renewable sources. The aim of this programme to promote not only the development of energy from renewable sources but also financial support for institutions, enterprises, among others in the field of photovoltaics. In the article, weassess the factors that determine the development of photovoltaics in Poland (e.g. sunexposure, design and way of use). In the article, with the help of the basics of financial mathematics, we evaluate the economic efficiency of a photovoltaic plant. It turns out that the installation (with certain assumptions) is still too expensive with almost 13-14 years return period. Low profitability is determined by, among others, taxation of subsidies andinterest rate.
