Summary/Abstract: Financial knowledge and skills help to develop positive habits necessary for effective management of financial means. According to Gigerenzer’s reasoning: “In the 21st century financial knowledge is as important as reading and writing in the 20th century”. The study is aimed at the identification of the level of financial knowledge of secondary school students. The study is oriented by the following questions: • What is the level of financial knowledge of secondary school pupils? • Do gender, age and place of residence of respondents influence the level of their financial knowledge and how? • In what way does the level of education of parents diversify the financial knowledge of responding students? Financial education is especially important for the young generation as growing differences in the level of financial knowledge of young people may significantly deepen the differences in social well-being. The studies that have been carried out show that the level of knowledge of secondary school students is slightly higher than the level of knowledge determined in the national study. On average, students have had 47.5% of correct answers in the financial knowledge test. However, this result shows a low level of financial knowledge.
