The Effectiveness of the Therapeutic Team in Health Care ― an Overview of Fesearch

Summary/Abstract: Cooperation between members of therapeutic teams is necessary for patient’s comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. An effective work of physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, dieticians, and all other specialists is also important for minimizing costs and the improvement of the quality of care. Scientific studies show that there are several especially important factors which condition the effectiveness of teamwork. Into these factors may be classified: effective leadership, good communication and coordination within the team, skills of resolving conflicts, concern about the quality of work, and friendly work environment. The above-mentioned determinants increasingly more often become the element of studies concerning therapeutic teams. Despite this, the number of these studies in Poland is insufficient, especially in long-term care, where patients require close cooperation of medical professionals and non-professionals.
