Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the selected eating habits of young people in Lodz (the structure of consumption of meals, snacking) and trends in eating habits of young people over 15 years. The study group was school youth aged 1219 years attending primary, middle and secondary schools in 4 districts of Lodz. The study involved 622 students: 309 girls (49.7%) and 313 boys (50.3%). Dietary habits were analyzed based on the author's interview questionnaire modeled on the interview questionnaire used in the international studies (HBSC - Health Behaviour In School-aged Children). Only 56.1% of the surveyed students (51.5% of girls and 60.7% of boys) regularly consumed basic meals. Negative eating behavior were observed more frequently in girls and young adults. Over 90% of students snacked between meals - mainly fruit, sweets, salty snacks. The test results oblige to urgently introduce even basic activities of nutrition education at school and appropriate activities for parents and teachers.
