Summary/Abstract: In the contemporary world we can observe many branches of the same religion. This is also true of Christianity, with the many denominations created over the centuries. The most important events were the Great Easter Schism (1054) and the Reformation (XVI c.). One of the most important questions taken up in inter-confessional dialogue is the interpretation of the mystery of the Eucharist. Protestantism is a certain dynamism and a movement which expresses itself in historical changes in theological understanding and in consequence in the Church’s experience. This article concerns teaching on the presence of Jesus Christ in the Last Supper in the Lutheran and Reformed Churches. The pronouncements of the reformers contained in Symbolic and Confession Books of these Churches show us that they referred in their teaching to pre-reformation conceptions. Zwingli referred to the sacramental conception connected with Tertulian teaching; while Luther, who opposed what he considered this minimalist theory, turned in his teaching to the realistic conception represented before him by Berengarius. This article also focuses on the consequences that the Reformers’ teaching on the presence of Christ in the Last Supper (for example the concept of co-presence) has on their view of transsubstantiation
