Summary/Abstract: In the early 1990s, partly due to the impact of various factors within the European and Yugoslav socio-political context, the process of the Muslim / Bosniak religious / national society “creating” and strengthening had been initiated. In parallel with this process, the disintegration of the Bosnian society, as “imagined” and, for more than two previous decades, promoted social and cultural entity, had begun. The following article deals with the founders of the Bosniak / Muslim national / religious society, before the first democratic elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the early 1990s: the emerging political elite and its ideological concepts concerning Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosniaks / Muslims; cultural intelligentsia, which shapes discourse that becomes the basis for the self-understanding of national / religious community; and religious structures within the Islamic community that provide logistical support to political elites in the electoral race and encourage the process of re-islamization of Bosniaks / Muslims.
