Summary/Abstract: Purpose of the article is to reveal the current state of the popular culture of Poltava and the prerequisites for its formation. Methodology. In achieving this goal, the following research methods were used: analysis, synthesis, source-study, system and historiographic methods, a generalization of the problem studied and worked on the theory and history of culture were used. Scientific Novelty. The research is that the famous performance of Poltava was first considered in the foreshadowing of the formation of social self-identity. Conclusions. Analyzing various sources, we summarize that Ukrainian musical folklore studies have gone through a steep path, but this strengthened its methodological foundations, filled with the meaning of the form of folklore and confirmed the position of the folk song. So, the evolution of the folk culture of Poltava region in the space of the XXI century is considered in the context of the world and national culture-making process. Ukraine needs to reflect on the regional culture of the region, to study the processes occurring, including in this territory, to recreate a holistic historical and cultural picture.
