Summary/Abstract: Purpose of research consists in analyzing the representations of the peculiarity of the national dimension of cultural memory on the example of folk songs. Methodology. In achieving this goal, the following research methods were used: semiotic analysis, system synthesis of source-study and historiographical methods, generalization of the investigated problem, the works on the theory and history of culture are used. Scientific Novelty. The research is that folk song performance was considered as an example of cultural memory in the context of the formation of national identity. Conclusions. The basis of national and cultural identity is self-identification of the individual, determining his own identity in the process of obtaining ethno-cultural information, searching for archetypes, ideas, cultural invariants. People fix their own sociocultural identity with the help of certain symbols – language, religion, history, mode of existence, style of clothing, customs and rituals, songs and dances. So, the folk song, which is one of the samples of cultural memory, has a leading role in the preservation and transmission of information from generation to generation, it is the cultural reflection of the national past and a transitional link to the future.
