This is a rarely discussed topic, although it is very current – in connection with the Polish accession to the Schengen area and the real possibility of the emergence of the situation involving direct contact with “mixed” police patrol (Polish and foreign police officer). The article discusses systemic solutions, including legal basis which enable the functioning of such patrols on Polish territory, noting that they are held in accordance with applicable law and are designed to impact positively on citizens’ sense of security. The body of the article discusses the cooperation between the Polish-Slovak police patrols, performance of the tasks that the latter have to encounter, particularly the obligations related to the safety of citizens and tourists who stay in border areas in Małopolska. The article is summarized by the reflection of the important role of services carried out jointly by Polish policemen and officers in other countries.
