Summary/Abstract: Family businesses represent a large part of the small and medium-sized enterprises. Succession process is a key concern of those enterprises, distinguishing among the small and medium-sized enterprises. Well-planned, implemented and closely linked to the strategic objectives of the company succession is of great importance for the future of the company. It determines the long-term and stable development of intergenerational family business. The authors present in the article the problem of succession, distinguish the most important issues and provide possible solutions. Also pays attention to generational differences affecting the changes in the family business. Also presents a case study of a family business catering and hospitality industry, in which the process of succession is considered, planned and has a place in the passage of the owner retired.
