Summary/Abstract: This study presents the Protestant - Lutheran, Reformed, Unitarian and Anglican -, Catholic and Orthodox confessions of faith of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries (the historical context of their elaboration and their content), as expressions of religious freedom. The official expositions of faith appeared in the context of the turmoil caused by the Reformation. These writings are more developed explanations of the symbol of faith - as each confession understands it - which presents its content in an extremely condensed form.
