Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article. The study characterizes the socio-cultural functions of pop-rock as an actual trend of contemporary Ukrainian popular music. The methodology consists of the application of analytical and historical-cultural methods, which made it possible to identify and characterize the socio-cultural functions of pop-rock on the example of the creativity of contemporary Ukrainian performers representing this musical direction. Scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time in Ukrainian science socio-cultural functions of rock music were defined and characterized with the example of pop-rock as one of the varieties that are representative of the Ukrainian musical culture. Conclusions. The sociocultural functions of rock music were defined in work on the example of pop-rock, among which are aesthetic, innovative-creative, ideological, educational, national-forming, identification, compensatory, communicative, entertaining and recreational. For the Ukrainian pop-rock as a nationally oriented art, the most important is the aesthetic and national-forming, because the Ukrainian language and reliance on Ukrainian song melos as the primary markers of pop-rock allow us to consider this trend of popular music as an integral part of the national musical tradition.
