Summary/Abstract: The article covers theoretical considerations concerning the essence of paradigm and scientific orientations in security-related science. The importance of ontological and epistemological questions being crucial and helpful in considering reality and explanation of security-related phenomena is also emphasised. The problem of scientific assumptions and positions was mentioned with the emphasis on the importance of the need to combine various perspectives and manners of practising science that would favour encompassing the entire profusion of security reality.
