Summary/Abstract: The article is a proposition for the respondents` opinions measurement consisting in connecting an application of discrete rating scales and fuzzy numbers. The study introduces and characterizes two variants of special questions for transforming linguistic variables into fuzzy numbers (e.g. triangular and trapezoidal). The proposed approach was used in the opinion poll of some career advisors on the quality of the lifelong education in Wałbrzych subregion. The results of the analysis confirmed the differences in the interpretation by the respondents of the linguistic values constituting the points of the discrete rating scale applied in the article. The arithmetic operations on fuzzy numbers indispensable to analyze the survey data using the proposed approach were computed in the R program.
