Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyse the compositional features of the song composer's work of the French composer Gabriel Fore, in particular, on the example of the songs by Paul Verlaine's words "Moonlight" and "The heart of the tears all day". The methodology of the research includes the use of art history, biographical and aesthetic aspects of musicology research and involves the use of methods of analysis, synthesis, descriptiveness, chronological. Scientific novelty. The article is the first attempt to characterise the song and composer's work of the famous French composer, more famous for the works for chamber-instrumental ensembles, G. Fore. Conclusions. Gabriel Fore – one of the most famous composers of France at the end of the nineteenth century, who, besides chamber and instrumental music, has created more than 100 songs on poems by French poets S.-L. where Lilia, P. Verlaine, S. van Leerberg, T. Gautier, V. Hugo, V. de Lil-Adan) and others. Of these, the vocal cycle "Good Pain," "Moonlight", "The heart of the tears all day lying" on Paul Verlaine's poems is most popular. These works have different styles, organically combine poetry and music, correctly performed for accompaniment on a piano, showing rich aesthetic characteristics. Musical material created by the composer requires from the performer the organically to feel the mood of the melody and at the expense of proper breathing, articulation, corresponding emotions, a developed level of personal feelings and experiences to achieve an ideal singing effect that bestows the idea of both the poet and the composer.
