Summary/Abstract: Within this paper we are interested in rituals in Miodrag Bulatović’s work in context of their literary archetype and motive-metaphorical layer, through which ritually and customary forms in his work are functionalised. We analyse these motives in three of his books: Đavoli dolaze (The Devils Are Coming), Crveni petao leti prema nebu (The Red Rooster Flies Heavenwards) and Ljudi sa četiri prsta (People with Four Fingers). While exploring the poetic acts of Miodrag Bulatović, our aim is to connect carnivalisation, as one of the major characteristics of his opus, with ritual as a motive, but also as a semantic entry.
