Summary/Abstract: In this paper we analyse similarities in the construction of two famous Ivo Andrić characters. They are both brave, well known for their strength and heroism. But they are, as well, deeply unhappy characters, coveting for something unachievable and unreachable. Their commonness is recognised by film authors Nedžad Dizdarević and Vuk Krnjević, who synthesise their common nature in a movie character called Gazija. Therefore, our interest was to discuss the significant methods of character building in a movie that leans on literary character prototypes.
