Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article to analyze the scenographic heritage of stage designer А. H. Petritskyi in a ballet theatre and to expose the question of strengthening of the role of authorial visual arts directing of scenographer in the context of ballet master’s intent. The methodology consists of historical-cultural and art history methods that give an opportunity to expose the essential aspects of scenographic activity of a prominent Ukrainian costume designer in choreographic performance. The scientific novelty of the work comprises of rethinking and returning from the oblivion of the creative work of a graphic designerreformer of Ukrainian scenography, research of the influence of design forms and facilities of Petritskyi’s scenographic creativity on the creation of choreographically plastic images.
