The methodology is based on general scientific methods of empirical and theoretical levels: observation, generalization, systematization, comparative analysis. The scientific novelty of the article consists in the consideration and separation of antiquary as an independent element of the preservation of the cultural values of Ukraine. It is also claimed that the antiquary is an essential participant in the process of preserving, reconstructing and restoring many cultural monuments, which can be combined under the generic term "antiques." Conclusions. The article explored the role of antiquary in the structure of preservation of cultural monuments, as well as an example of the activities of the spouses Khanenko - eminent philanthropists and art connoisseurs, who have been forming their antique Collections for more than 40 years.
