Contemporary Ukrainian Art Market of Painting: Specificity, Structure of Thematic Content

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is an attempt to study and distinguish the prevalent themes in the fine arts of Ukraine presented at the contemporary domestic art market of painting. The methodology of the research is based on general scientific methods of empirical and theoretical levels: observation, generalization, systematization, art studies analysis, comparative analysis. The scientific novelty of the article is to distinguish and describe the prevalent themes of Ukrainian painting, to systematize the actual issues of contemporary Ukrainian painting, with the justification of factors from which these themes are necessary for Ukrainian artists, spectators, and critics. Conclusions in the article reveal a range of popular topics in the contemporary Ukrainian art market of painting, it has been proved that the literary and mythological themes remain relevant. Artists peculiarly interpret traditional realistic figurative scenes. The revival of sacred stories continues. During recent years Ukrainian artists have been actively working with a "figurative palette" of socio-political actions. Acquainted receptions and themes of related forms of artistic expressions, such as a poster, a comic book, a poster, are actively assimilated.
