In the cycle of good and evil: administrative art of Nicolò Machiavelli

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is a theoretical analysis of the peculiarities of the management of the art of Niccolò Machiavelli through the lens of good and evil that will contribute to the enrichment of science with new knowledge about the formation of managerial culture in the Renaissance. The methodology of research is the dialectical principle of cognition, systemic, sociocultural, activity, historical approaches, the fundamental tenets of the theory and history of culture management. General scientific and interdisciplinary methods of research were used: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, comparison, generalization, formalization. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is to identify the characteristics of management art N. Machiavelli in the cycle of good and evil. Conclusions. In his works, Machiavelli freed the management from Church dogma and focused attention on the need to study reality, therefore, his methods, many consider immoral. In his opinion, management is a science and an art, the ability to deeply analyze the situation, theoretically to make sense of it and find the right solution, and also the skillful tactics for translating theory into practice. The power of the "magic" of influence on subordinates, according to the concept of Machiavelli, based on the formulated rational principles, the principles of establishing and maintaining power and original code of conduct and abilities of the Manager, which are aimed at strengthening its authority. The opposite of the category of "good" and "evil," which is continuously facing the Manager, considers Machiavelli as interrelated, the relative concepts that are in constant circulation and mutual transition from one state to another, depending on the conditions of the situation. The contribution of Machiavelli to the theory and art of management is enormous. It can be considered the Creator of one of the most effective leadership styles.
