Summary/Abstract: Poverty and modernisation of society increasingly brought many changes within the family. Fora better living standard of for lack of stable income, parents nowadays resort to various means to meettheir expenses and fulfil their needs. The absence of one or both parents from family life is rife today dueto the following causes: a parent or both migrate abroad for a better job, divorce, death or abandonment.The paper analyzes the effects that this phenomenon - the absence of parents in a child's life - has on theirformation as an individual.
