Summary/Abstract: Professionalization is an area of on-going interest due to the need to improve the quality of the educational process, to adapt it to the needs and requirements of society. Research at the European Commission level highlights a number of aspects common to all education systems in the European Union. The skills gap identified among teachers is very visible and quantitatively, very important, while the recruitment of quality teachers is also seriously threatened, particularly because of the general inconsistency of compensation systems, but also because of the low salaries at the beginning of their careers, which makes it difficult to recruit qualified teachers into the system. In this article, through the comparative analysis, we have highlighted both the common aspects and the differences in initial and continuing teacher training in Romania and France.
