Summary/Abstract: The great exponents of Abhidhamma took for granted that there is such “a thing” as “the psychical”. There was no need either to explain or to prove it. But there existed for them a very strong and purely pragmatic necessity to explain and to prove that “the psychical” was a “thing”. And they have done it. But how did they manage to do that? It seems that the first section of Dhammasangani might give us the answer. In the very structure of this section three general theoretical premises for a description of the psychological contents are implied.
