Features of the Creative Method a Capella Collective "The Swingle Singers"

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to reveal the specifics of the creative method of the a capella group The Swingle Singers. The study of the peculiarities of the repertoire and vocal style of the collective can be useful in the education of pop vocalists. The methodology involves the use of an analytical approach when studying the features of group arrangements and the comparative method in order to identify the specifics of the vocal manner. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time in the Ukrainian musicology features of the activities of the vocal ensemble are outlined. Conclusions. The creativity of the band "The Swingle Singers" demonstrates an extremely high level of vocal performance. The members of the group have a professionalism that relates them to recognition in the music world. Their repertoire is associated with the performance of the works related with the academic musical tradition and pop music. One of the critical aspects of their method is the ability to create ensemble sound, to integrate and differentiate the timbre. Depending on the design of the performers, it is possible to develop productive interpretations of works that would correspond to the original author's version, as is done with the music of classical composers, as well as those where style, harmony, metrorhythmic origin change.
