A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE PLACE AND IMPORTANCE OF ESKISEHIR IN ADNAN MENDERES’S POLITICAL LIFE

Summary/Abstract: Menderes held his first democracy demonstration in his political career in Çifteler, a district of Eskişehir, in a territory called Sakaryabaşı. New factories were established and many works were carried out in many different areas in an attempt to urbanization and industrialization in Turkey. Adnan Menderes strove to demolish foreign-dependent industrialization and to supply privatization. Adnan Menderes held also his last political meeting in Eskişehir before going to Kütahya. After his meeting in Eskişehir, the Turkish Armed Forces seized the power. Menderes signalled the early election during his visit to Eskişehir by saying: “Our way is the way of election, the way of free election.” However, there were some weird phenomena in Turkey on those days.
