Summary/Abstract: Purpose of Article. The aim of the research is a trace of the peculiarities of watercolor painting through the prism of historical innovation in the formation of various techniques, features of creative personalities of artists (solos, innovators, creative). Methodology. A scientific approach of the study is based on the goal, which allows the use of cultural-historical, analysis and synthesis, descriptive, extrapolation methods. The scientific novelty is centered on the application of the modem view on the importance of the creative personality (and the original artistic means of its expression), based on historical information. Conclusions. Thus, the path of innovation in watercolor through the history of artistic creativity of artists has always been focused on the search, means of enriching the creative arsenal with new techniques that will make the picture unique. A picture in which the action of the creative image does not stop with the passage of time, and contains a constant emotional and aesthetic influence on the viewer, giving, at first glance, unnoticeable imprint of the shades of the master’s personality: either his fantasy, or courage, tenderness, maybe arrogance, perhaps, chastity. Each of the "shades" is a manifestation of author's looseness, innovation, and creativity because real artist manifests the own personality through the work.
