Summary/Abstract: This study examines the political life in Shumen in the 1920s. For the first time on the basis of numerous resources, the article presents a detailed account of: 1) the municipal government; 2) the current status and the changes in the political parties; 3) people and different personalities; 4) different events in the town and the specifics related to the reaction of its population to events of national and regional importance.
