Summary/Abstract: Republicanization, free association of states and hospitality are Kant’s conditions that states have to meet if they want peace. Another condition, a free association of states caused many disputes among Kant scholars. Their interpretations range from full independence of states up to supranational authority. By looking into difference between the natural state of countries and natural state of the individual, inviolability of sovereignty of people and the inseparability of ethics and politics, I tried to point to the real nation of this association. It is my opinion that this philosopher wanted nation states to form a free federation in which their sovereignty shall be preserved. This is the only kind of association which can keep every individual’s freedom intact, and is necessary to harmonize the achieved peace with the requirements of the reason (Vernunft).
