Summary/Abstract: The upbringing of children in the family depends on who their parents are, what qualities of character they possess and which parental attitudes they represent. If the parental attitudes are positive, the atmosphere at home and the parent-child relations are correct. Everyone has confidence towards everyone else, enjoys every moment spent together. Children of parents who prefer the positive attitudesattend their preschools more willingly. The situation is much worse in case of parents who represent negative attitudes. The children then become sad, nervous, afraid and not confident about their own abilities. The aim of the research was to determine a relation between the parental attitudes and the moods that the child experiences in preschool. The research showed that most children in preschool are happy and satisfied. More seldom is there fear, nervousness or anger in their behaviour. Statistical calculations showed that there is no importance of the relation between the mother's or father's attitudes and the discussed aspects of the functioning of a 5 or 6‐year‐old in preschool. This might have resulted from the low quantity of samples used in the research.
