Voice characteristics of kindergarten educators, teachers and professors in relation to working age

Summary/Abstract: Vocal professionals use own voice as a tool in their work. They are risk population for voice disorders incidence (Brodnitz, 1953; Lawrence, 1983). The voice of vocal professionals is exposing most to voice disorders because of specific job conditions, voice strain and specific psychological states. Results of this research made by Analyses of variance, Matrix of correlation and Discriminative analyses confirm expected differences between women with different number of working years in basic acoustical features and in correlation of working time duration with voice characteristics of kindergarten educators, teachers and professors. From a point of view of type of profession, obtained “frequency” discriminative function, statistically significant differs, all three groups of vocal professionals. The focus of this kind of research is on taking more care of vocal hygiene in teachers in school.
