Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the teaching of Czech at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Seoul), which has one of the largest departments of Czech language in the world. At the beginning of the paper, the author looks at foreigners’ interest in Czech, in general. He then presents the history, as well as the current situation, of Czech instruction at the South Korean university. The paper offers an examination of the role of the professor, including research activities; an overview of Czech language, literature and history courses; and characteristics of Korean students. In the end, the author presents students’ extra-curricular activities, which form an integral part of their studies. He also recommends measures to increase the quality and efficiency of the instruction of Czech.
