Summary/Abstract: Animals inhabit children’s literature. What is at stake is to explain the reasons for this study by emphasizing what contributions and impacts these furred, feathered or shelled heroes make to a young readership. According to their age, young readers will be more or less attracted by a specific type of animal, the human hero’s animal companion, the identifiable anthropomorphic animal hero or the leading and facilitating one likely to help and accompany them in their discovery of the world.
