Summary/Abstract: Scientific literature encompasses numerous methods of description and categorization of the phenomenon of the upbringing. The researchers use the notion of images/concepts which are the source of information about the accepted criteria, visions of goals, values, about the methodology and justification of the upbringing. The images of the upbringing are conditioned socially, are still evolving and are marked by the times when they were created. Frequently, they are contradicting one another, however, they always illustrate the preferred norms and values, also the means and methods of the upbringing and finally, they reveal the anthropology of a child. Alongside with the changing views on the upbringing, the expectations towards teachers, carers and also parents, are changing as well. Their answer to the post-modern social, cultural and civilizational transformations can be implementation of the ‘post-modern upbringing’.
