Summary/Abstract: This paper explores the religious beliefs of Indians and Bulgarians and the ways in which they have been modified during the postmodern period, as well as certain universal and specifically cultural beliefs that characterize the two nations. The discussion also outlines four basic models of religiosity in the postmodern world. The study presents empirical data that have been generated in the two countries on the basis of questionnaires on which individuals indicated their personal convictions about life and death. Our empirical data the main thesis of the present discussion, namely, that postmodernity is marked by an intense process of exchange concerning spiritual and religious ideas that influences people’s belief systems.
