Summary/Abstract: The present study reconstructs the professional path of Cristoferus, a master goldsmith from the city of Braşov, who followed a conventional route for a craftsman of his time (late-15th to early-16 th centuries), but by reprehensible acts, has deviated from the ethical model based on the values of Christian morality, becoming „a case”. The reconstruction of the specific „case” is based on a few documents / letters that the goldsmith' guilds from Bács and Szeged send to the goldsmiths' guild in Brașov, pieces that are of particular relevance in terms of content but also of the practice of writting within craftsmen communities. Accused of stealing and inciting to steal, Cristoferus hardly managed to reintegrate into the craft and urban community he was a part of.
