Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with Rayko Alexiev and his work as editor of the newspaper Shturetz(Cricket) (1932-1944), which was the most popular Bulgarian satirical periodical publishedbetween the two world wars. It had reached a pressrun of 50, 000, which was an unprecedentedcirculation at the time. The analysis covers the development of its ideas, the topicscovered and the genres used, especially at key moments in the history of the country, such asthe first half of 1934 and the spring of 1941.
