Summary/Abstract: The national emancipation of Romanians, as it was thought and voiced by Inochentie Micu-Klein in his petition Supplex Libellus Valachorum Transsilvaniae that he wrote and sent to empress Maria Theresa in 1743 and that his follower, bishop Petru Pavel Aron implemented, was only possible through school and culture. Starting with emperor Charles VI, the historical and political context largely encouraged this path that the most prominent figures of the Romanian Enlightenment precursors wanted. At the same time, the reformist measures taken by emperor Joseph II also concerned education as the field the most capable to provide a proper cultural level to his subjects and to shape citizens educated and trained in multiple domains, ready to be faithful and useful to the State. The training of teachers that were supposed to teach in various school levels did not suppose at that time a component that we nowadays call psychopedagogy. This occurred later, after the second part of the XIXth century. However, this does not mean that, until that moment, preoccupations in this area did not exist; on the contrary, they took shape in works such as: Mihai Roșu, Carte trebuincioasă pentru dascăli, Viena, 1785 [Book destined to Teachers, Vienna, 1785]; Manuductor pentru învăţătorii sholasticeşti, Buda, 1818 [Workbook destined to Teachers in Schools, Buda, 1818]; Peter Villaume, Pedagogia şi metodica (trad. Naum Petrovici), Buda, 1818 [Pedagogy and Methodology (transl. by Naum Petrovici), Buda, 1818]; Constantin Ucuta, Noua pedagogie, Viena, 1797 (în limba greacă) [New Pedagogy, Vienna,1797 (in Greek)].
