Relationship between Social Competencies, Loneliness and Life Satisfaction Among the Elderly

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between social competence, loneliness and life satisfaction among the elderly. Moreover, the differences between young and older adults regarding their sex were examined. The study involved over 160 people divided into two groups: young adults and older adults. The results show significant differences between young and older adults in social competence, loneliness and life satisfaction. Moreover, social competence tended to be positively associated with life satisfaction and negatively associated with loneliness in both age groups.
