Summary/Abstract: The paper describes the way of living of mining families in housing estates in Banská Štiavnica during the period of real socialism. It describes the stories of moving, the choice of the apartment, the evaluation of the quality of the apartment building, the apartment and the infrastructure of the housing estate, the way of furnishing the apartment, the aesthetics of housing during the socialism and the neighborhood relations at the housing estates.
