Summary/Abstract: The present research aims at reconstructing the typologies of popular sainthood in the Transylvanian space of the first half of the fourteenth century (1301 1350), following the way in which the European evolutions in the field of the cult of saints and devotional trends were adopted/ processed in this territory from the frontiers of Christianitas. Secondly, the study intends to discuss the issue of the involvement of the laity in the religious life of Transylvania of the mentioned period, bringing into spotlight their actions in the fi eld of the popular piety. Finally, this approach wants to illustrate how the actions of the Transylvanian laity in the religious sphere reveal original devotional demands and preferences, in other words, to what extent and why the intercession of certain s aints is intentionally prefered to the detriment of others.
